About Me

I’m ill Tidings, sometimes known by the name Erick Johnson. I’m a dreamer, author, and part-time insomniac, specializing in everything horror. I hail from the suburbs of Commerce City, Colorado (tucked between the dog food factory, oil refinery, and former chemical weapons facility specifically). Outside of writing, and aforementioned everything horror, I spend my days writing music, walking my dog, drinking coffee, thinking too much, fretting, drinking more coffee, and being spotted at the edge of the woods.

My blend of horror is very much a chimera of influences, wrought together by the sinew of an overactive imagination and too much daydreaming. Always reading, I fell in love with science fiction and horror at a young age, diving into the weird and macabre, such as the work of Algernon Blackwood, H.P. Lovecraft, and Edgar Allen Poe. In my work, I strive to bring the spirit of weird fiction into the modern era, letting it live in the world of the internet, urban legends, and the eschewed fears of my childhood. This all is garnished with a vocabulary mixed between my love of literature and an early obsession with thrash metal.
